England footballer Michelle Agyemang, darts player Luke Littler and cricket star Davina Perrin have been named as finalists for the upcoming Young Athlete of the Year award.

The trio have been recognised for their outstanding achievements over the past 12 months.

Agyemang was instrumental as the Lionesses claim victory in Euro 2025, Littler won the world title for the maiden time, and Perrin rose to fame with a unprecedented innings.

Littler claimed this honour in 2024 after his breakthrough year.

The finalists were unveiled on a popular morning radio program.

The 2025 recipient will be announced during a live broadcast on the Sports Personality of the Year show on Thursday, 18 December.

The ceremony will be aired from 19:00 GMT.

Michelle Agyemang

Age: 19 Sport: Football

Only 90 days after her senior team debut, Agyemang played a dramatic and decisive role in England's run to Euro 2025 glory.

She was introduced as a substitute to score crucial late equalisers in both the quarter-final and semi-final.

Agyemang's stunning interventions led to her being named the best young player at the Euros.

Later in the year, she was awarded the Golden Girl award for the best young player in Europe.

She was also in contention for the Kopa Trophy for the world's best under-21 female player.

Agyemang, who has been on loan at Brighton from Arsenal, ruptured her anterior cruciate ligament in October.

"Being on the shortlist for Young Sports Personality of the Year is an honour," said Agyemang. "I thank God and I'm appreciative of the support I've received from my loved ones, mentors, colleagues and supporters."

Luke Littler

Age: 18 Sport: Darts

Littler kicked off the year in sensational style as - at just 17 years old - he became the youngest darts world champion in history.

He secured a commanding win over Michael van Gerwen in the final.

His follow-up triumph at the World Matchplay made him only the fifth player to complete the prestigious PDC Triple Crown.

His success continued - his victory at November's Grand Slam of Darts meant he climbed to world number one for the maiden occasion.

At 18, he is the earliest achiever to do so, breaking the previous record.

"Being nominated for the honour once more is a huge privilege," stated Littler. "Last year's win was a highlight for me and I've had another amazing 12 months. I want to continue promoting darts."

Davina Perrin

Age: 19 Sport: Cricket

Perrin is one of English cricket's brightest emerging stars and rose to fame with an extraordinary and record-breaking innings in August.

Her brilliant 42-ball century in The Hundred is the speediest century from an England batswoman in T20s.

It also stands as the shared third-fastest women's T20 century in a top-tier competition.

Perrin ended up as runner-up in the season's run tally and was named PCA Women's Young Player of the Year.

"I'm truly honoured to be named a finalist for the young athlete award," expressed Perrin. "It's a very special feeling. I hope it encourages more young women to get into cricket."
