Mohamed Salah Offers Apology to Teammates, Discloses Curtis Jones
Curtis Jones has disclosed that the Egyptian forward apologised to the group of players in the wake of the fallout from his public comments.
The Incident
The striker was dropped from a vital match subsequent to criticising the club and stating his relationship with manager had soured.
“He speaks for himself and he can say his own stuff,” the midfielder said. “He apologised to us and was like: ‘If I’ve affected anybody, please accept my apology.’”
The manager has chosen not to reveal on whether he was apologised to from the player.
Moving Forward
He emphasized that the squad's reaction remained positive. “Nothing about him changed, he had a big smile on his face and everybody was exactly the same with him,” the midfielder explained.
He also suggested that a competitor wanting to play is preferable. “It's clear there are different methods you can express yourself,” he said. “But if a lad’s fine to just not start, then I think that’s more of an issue.”
Team Form
The team's performance have stayed unbeaten in the matches since the interview fallout. Jones believes the Salah's words were not intended to destabilise the squad.
“If passion has boiled over, it’s always been from a desire to win,” Jones concluded. “We’re past that now and we’re uniting strongly, playing well and starting to win games.”
