Iranian Forces State Strike on US Base in Bahrain, During Regional Retaliatory Strikes.
Tehran reports attacking a US naval base in Manama, as the country executed missile attacks across the region in retaliation for a significant and ongoing attack targeting the nation by the United States and Israeli forces.
Huge plumes of black smoke were seen rising from an area in the area of the headquarters of the US Navy's Fifth Fleet in Bahrain's capital, Manama. The extent of any destruction is uncertain and the US has not commented.
Missile Defenses Activated
Elsewhere across the region, the United Arab Emirates, the State of Qatar and the State of Kuwait - each hosting US military bases - stated they have intercepted missiles in their territorial skies.
In the Qatari capital, the Qatari Ministry of Defence announced it had successfully engaged a number of projectiles apparently targeting the al-Udeid air base, the largest American base in the Middle East.
Operation "Truthful Promise 4"
Iran's Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) said in a statement it was attacking American facilities and interests as part of operation "Truthful Promise 4", in retaliation for the offensive on Iran launched by the US and Israel on Saturday.
That preceding assault - initiated at around 06:15 GMT - has so far struck sites associated with the the regime, with US President Donald Trump urging the Iranian people to rise up against the government.
Regional Fallout
In Israel, air raid sirens sounded nationwide after the Israeli military reported it had detected an incoming Iranian missile barrage.
The defence ministry of the United Arab Emirates announced that the country has been subjected to a "a blatant attack involving Iranian ballistic missiles".
"UAE air defence systems dealt with the missiles with great effectiveness and successfully intercepted a series of missiles," it added.
Officials reported missile fragments landed in a populated district in the capital, resulting in some property damage and killing a civilian.
The United States Air Force operates from the Al Dhafra base, to the south of the Emirati capital, along with the Emirati Air Force.
