Ex- Doctor Faces Assault Charges Against 38 Individuals in His Care
Legal authorities have announced that a former physician stands accused of committing sexual assaults against thirty-eight individuals who were patients.
Details of the Serious Charges
The accused, Nathaniel Spencer from Birmingham has been charged with dozens of sexual offences – including acts against children younger than 13 – spanning the period from 2017 and 2021.
A deputy chief prosecutor stated, “Our prosecutors have worked at length to support a detailed and complex investigation, meticulously examining the evidence to determine that there is sufficient evidence to proceed to trial and that it is in the public interest.”
The Investigation
The charges come after what police called a “detailed inquiry” into alleged sexual offences at medical facilities: the Royal Stoke university hospital and a facility in Dudley.
Spencer will appear at the local magistrates' court on 20 January.
Breakdown of Offences
Prosecutors said the forty-five charges he is charged with:
- 15 counts of assault.
- 17 counts of assault by penetration.
- 9 counts of assault on a minor under thirteen.
- Three counts of assault of a child under 13 by penetration.
- 1 count of attempting to assault by penetration.
