Around Twelve historical artefacts were formally returned to the Ethiopian nation following staying by a household from Germany for more than ten decades.

The items, first gathered in the 1920's by Germany's representative to Ethiopia a German envoy and his spouse Hedwig, were delivered on this past Wednesday to the Institute of Ethiopian Studies at Addis Ababa University.

This collection contained crowns, armor and canvases, each regarded as historically significant in the country.

"The artefacts continue to represent a symbol of the lasting and amicable ties between the German nation and Ethiopia," remarked Germany's envoy, the representative to Ethiopia.

Dr. a professor, whose parent was delivered during the household's service in Ethiopia, presented the objects at a ceremony joined by the Minister of Tourism Selamawit Kassa.

He stated that the household's intention to give back the treasures was to "share their splendor with the people and maintain the culture and history connected to my father's beginning."

These items were either donations or purchases, according to the relatives.

"I want to express gratitude to Professor Weiss's family for actively expressing their profound affection for Ethiopia by diligently safeguarding these items and vitally guaranteeing their homecoming to their proper homeland," stated the official.

The minister noted that the pieces would soon be available to the general audience for study and educational purposes, describing the move a significant step in preserving the nation's historical legacy.

"Initiatives are ongoing to return historical items that are located in the possession of collectors and entities all over the world," she affirmed.

In the era of imperial control in the African continent, numerous of cultural objects were plundered.

The request by African countries for the restoration of stolen artefacts has been met with some positive outcomes in lately - even if several artefacts are only on short-term display.

Back in the year 2022, Germany was the first state to give back a selection of the famous Benin Bronzes to the West African nation in an attempt to address its "troubled colonial history."
